Oil on Board
20" by 30"

'Catchin' Up' - a warm summers day, the breeze just coasting by. It's a place that anyone who has ever sails knows well, and possibly visits in their dreams.

This was exhibited at the old Bangor Heritage Centre, North Down Museum, in November 2007.

The original is framed in a matt black mental frame, approx 3" wide and bevelled at the sides.

Comments and Crits welcomed :)

Ooh, a new pic up :D Love the colours and the sense of perspective you've used here. The water effects and the detail on the wooden, erm, pole-thingie (look at me and my nautical terminology) are impressive too.
I wanna be on a boat, dammit!

Huh! Surprisingly realistic! I mean... you used to paint sort of more stylized pictures and this very vivid realism kinda struck me :D Very vibrant and very alive, the shades of red also make it very warm, bringing to mind lazy, but hot and passionate summer :)
Plus I absolutely adore the reflection on the water! Beautifully done, bravo!

How come the Americans get it cheap at $300 compared to £250? Could I pay you in $ instead of £? ;) Just kidding, I don't have that sort of money :-/

Nice saily boatery stuff :)
Ahh but just think of the postage costs ;)
Actually, that's my inability to convert/keep up with conversion rates... ;)

And thank you :)

Thank you! I'm having a lot of fun doing the more realistic stuff - but still making it bold and stylised in a different way.

And water is my new favourite thing to play with, reflections are so much fun in oils!

Ok, actually, oils are so much fun in oils.

Ohh, impressive use of Gaffer Nautical terminology - we impressed our Commodore, a guy called Dennis, very much last May whilst in cambeltown - he heard Peter, our skipper, shouting up to Mandy "Put the thing in the thing! No, not that thing, the other thing!" And she knew exactly what he meant... ;)

Well, you know what you'll have to do - get your ass over here! ;)

Thanks for the thoughts, sorry it took so long to get back!
